Monomoy Girl circled the field to win going away in her grassy one-mile unveiling at Indiana Grand Sept. 5 but left nothing to chance Thursday night beneath the Twin Spires, winning in wire-to-wire fashion. Sent straight to the front in a race lacking pace, the chestnut relaxed with her ears pricked through decidedly moderate fractions. Put to the test on the far turn, she rebroke in upper stretch and bounded home a 1 1/4-length winner. Moonlight Rain (Point of Entry), prominent from the outset, stayed on in close pursuit down the lane but could not get by.
